Berghuis, Thomas

Thomas Berghuis is a curator, writer, art historian and a Research Affiliate with the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne. Berghuis previously worked as Founding Director of Museum MACAN in Jakarta (2015-2016), Indonesia; Curator of Chinese Art at the Guggenheim Museum in New York (2013-2015); and Lecturer in Asian Art History at the University of Sydney (2008-2013). He has published his writings in leading journals and art magazines, including Theory, Culture & Society (Sage), Third Text (Taylor & Francis), and Kunstlicht (VU, Amsterdam). He is also a research team member for Shaping Indonesian Contemporary Art: The Role of Institutions, a long-term research project with the University of Sydney and Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia, supported by the Australian Research Council. Berghuis currently lives and works in Leiden, the Netherlands.
